After nearly twelve years, Pastor Kelly announced his resignation on Sunday, April 13. His last Sunday is not until September 28, which will give our church time to find a new pastor. Pastor Kelly will be transitioning to a full-time role with the Aspen Network, which was initially called the Tapestry Church Planting Network. So, Pastor Kelly is not as much going anywhere as he is transitioning to a new role. And for our church family, we will transition into a Pastoral Search Process. So, what’s next?

The Tapestry Church Bylaws outline the process for whenever there is a pastoral vacancy.

  • The Elder’s Team will recommend a pastoral search team comprised of Tapestry Church members to the church family.
  • Tapestry members will vote to affirm (or not) the recommended pastoral search team.
  • The Pastoral Search Team will be tasked with finding a pastoral candidate who will ultimately be presented to the church for a Tapestry member vote.
  • After meeting the Pastoral Candidate over a weekend of church activities, the church family will be asked to PRAY.
  • Ten days’ notice will be given before a member’s meeting is called to vote on the Pastoral Candidate.
    • The vote requires a 3/4 (75%) majority to call a new pastor.

Sunday, April 13 – Pastor Kelly announces his resignation (effective Sept 30, 2025)

Sunday, April 13 – Darin Paton announces that the Tapestry Elders will receive nominations for potential Pastoral Search Team members. Pastoral Search Team must be comprised of Tapestry member’s only. Contact Pastor Kelly if you have any questions about your membership status.

  • A Pastoral Search Team nomination box will be on the Welcome Table at Tapestry Church on Sundays, April 20 & 27. 

Early May – Tapestry Elders will make public their recommendation for the Pastoral Search Team.

Sunday, May 11 – Tapestry Church member’s will vote to affirm the Pastoral Search Team.

May – ??? – The Pastoral Search Team will prayerfully draft a Job Description, Receive Resumés, Interview Candidates, and ultimately nominate a single pastoral candidate to present to Tapestry Church.

Sunday, Sept 28 – Pastor Kelly’s last Sunday as Pastor of Tapestry Church.
