Matthew 28:19 (NIV):
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

This verse is part of what is known as the Great Commission, where Jesus gives His final instructions to His disciples before His ascension. It is a command, not a suggestion, to go out into the world and spread the Gospel, making disciples of all nations.

Reflecting God’s Glory Through going

To reflect God’s glory through Matthew 28:19, we need to understand both the mission Jesus gave and how this mission ties into reflecting His glory in our lives. God’s glory is His majesty, holiness, and divine presence, and one of the most profound ways we reflect His glory is by participating in His redemptive work in the world.

  • The Call to Go and Make Disciples: “Therefore go…”

Reflection of God’s Glory in Action:
The call to “go” speaks to actively participating in God’s mission. To reflect God’s glory is to actively spread His name, love, and message of salvation. It’s about living with purpose and intentionality, knowing God’s glory is revealed in our work and actions.

Reflection: When we obey this command, we are reflecting God’s glory through our obedience to His mission. By making disciples, we participate in God’s eternal purpose, sharing His love with others and making His glory known on the earth.

“Make disciples of all nations…”

Reflection of God’s Glory in Inclusion:
The invitation to make disciples of all nations is a powerful reminder of God’s heart for the whole world. God’s glory is not just for one people group, but for all people. In reflecting God’s glory, we are part of His inclusive love that transcends ethnic, cultural, and geographic boundaries. We are called to share the Gospel with every nation, language, and tribe, making His glory known to the ends of the earth.

“Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Reflection on baptism: Celebrate Baptism

When you see someone baptized, recognize that it is a celebration of God’s glory—His redemptive work in that person’s life. Be involved in helping people take this important step in their faith journey.

Teaching Them to Obey Everything Jesus Has Commanded: (implied in the Great Commission)

Reflection of God’s Glory in Discipleship:
Teaching disciples to obey everything Jesus commanded is an ongoing process that reflects God’s glory by demonstrating the transformative power of the Gospel. When we live in obedience to Jesus, we reflect His holiness, wisdom, and love to the world. Obedience to His commands is not only a demonstration of our love for God, but it also showcases His transforming power in our lives.

Prayer

“Father, I thank You for the call to make disciples and to reflect Your glory in the world. I pray that my life would be a reflection of Your love, grace, and truth as I engage in the Great Commission. Help me to live in obedience to You, sharing the Gospel and discipling others with the power of the Holy Spirit. May I always remember the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are at work in me, and may my actions and words bring glory to Your name. Use me, Lord, to bring others into a deeper relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
